This lovely couple met us on top of a mountain bald located in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina on a blustery and brisk autumn afternoon in November for their sunset engagement session. Madeline and Brian met one another while serving in the armed forces overseas in Germany and have been attached at the hip ever since. Meeting and falling in love in such unique circumstances has allowed the pair to form a strong, yet carefree bond that shone through brilliantly in front of the camera.

Our favorite part of these mountain balds is that the wide open windswept grasses of the landscape allow for an abundance of room for couples to express their love in all the ways that make their relationships unique. The forest leading up to the summit with its moss covered rocks and evergreens has a mystical feel to it that makes a fantastic starting point to the session. From there, we made our way to the top and the couple held each other, danced through the tall grass, and laughed the entire way. Although it was chilly, the duo kept each other warm as the sun set over the expansive views of the Smoky Mountains rolling away over the horizon.
