Appalachian Family Photoshoot

On a sunny, late June afternoon, we joined Tessa Woolworth and her three lovely children on a hike to the top of a secluded bald mountain convenient to Asheville, North Carolina. Tessa, her daughter Emma, and twin boys, Oliver and Russell, led the way up one of their favorite hikes, and we reached the top well before Golden Hour. Tessa is a fellow photographer so we are of a like-mind when it comes to lighting and timing of the session.

The field on top of the mountain was bestrewn with wheat grass that gleamed yellow and golden in the warm light of the sun as it retired over the western Blue Ridge Mountains. With plenty of energy to spare after the hike up, the kids frollicked and ran through the tall grass as they cavorted with Tessa and one another in the cool summer’s breeze.
