Jessy Easton and Perry Rhodes met us at the famous Dive Motel in East Nashville for a couples phootshoot in late January of this year. The Dive Motel is a restored motor inn from the fifties that hosted country and rock music legends such as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams and others at its peak. The whole place screams, “Old Nashville.” With Perry being an accomplished musician and Jessy a supremely talented writer, we figured this would be the perfect place for the four of us to collaborate on a creative shoot.
Each room in the motel has its own unique design curated by the owner and most have original wallpaper and wood paneling from the 70’s. The rooms also have a disco ball and “party switch” which ignites music and lights to set the mood. With the mood set, we fired up our fog machine and got to it.
We started off in the room. With the disco ball spinning and the fog filling the space, Jessy and Perry moved about the room and beds and the scene felt like we were witnessing the morning following a rock show after-party. Afterwards we moved to the 70’s themed swimming pool and took some photos of the two lounging and loving on each other poolside.
The next day we explored the space in the motel’s dive bar and diner. The two looked like Nashville royalty of old with Jessy in her floral dress and fur coat and Perry in his leather riding jacket, hat, and boots as they held hands across the table from one another. With how easy these two are in front of the camera and with all that The Dive Motel has to offer, we could have shot there for days on end.
