a summer wedding in downtown asheville

Kate Eubanks and Kevin Carr had their summer wedding at the Bunn House in downtown Asheville on a bright and sunny day in July. The Bunn House is a historic brick home in the Charlotte Street Area that has been turned into a luxury vacation rental and event space. With its large open lot replete with beautiful features such as: gardens, a vineyard, a giant weeping willow, and large open lawn, it truly is a lovely little oasis tucked away just blocks from downtown Asheville.

Asheville, NC has a rich history and has undergone many transformations since its establishment in the late 1700’s. When the railroad came to the area, Asheville became famous as a resort and therapeutic health center. As a nod to that, Kate and Kevin wanted their wedding to have an old Asheville summer resort vibe. The color scheme, guest attire, the music, and all of the other details were chosen to reflect that vision. The Bunn House was the perfect venue to round everything out.

Kate and her family had a huge hand in executing decorations of the reception and the vision of the table setting was all Kate’s. All of the dinnerware belonged to either Kate, her mom, or her grandmother. The ornate candlesticks belonged to Kate’s mom and Kate thrifted the votives. Each long table was specifically designed by Kate and the setting was executed by her friends Susan and Jaze. Nikki from East West Vintage provided the glassware for the tables.

Kate and Kevin exchanged vows in the sun drenched lawn in front of their closest friends and family members. Kate wore a beautiful white gown that was accentuated wonderfully by Kevin’s magnificent white tuxedo. The couple chose a color palette of creamy sunset colors that was used in the florals done by Niki from East West Vintage. The guests all dressed to match and some even sported matching parasols. The entire event had an all to dreamy feel to it.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds enjoyed a magnificent meal catered by the always delicious Budy Finch and the supremely talented local band, Queen Bee Swing provided the music. The couple and their loving celebrants danced the night away under the lights to the old time music as the sun set over the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains.

The wedding was a beautiful representation of the couple and their love for Asheville and its history. It was undoubtedly a day Kate and Kevin will never forget!
